Development

Human resource development (HRD) is a structured approach to build technical and social skills of employees. The goal is to sustain and increase performance and employee engagement. To me, HRD is the design of capacity building programs, and implementation and training of internal trainers. My approach in delivering HRD is centered on experiential learning (EL). The aim of EL is to support learners in connecting conceptual understanding with real-world experiences, leading to immediate transfer into new behaviour. Because of this immediate transfer, new behaviour can be embodied to support sustainable change. Furthermore, EL is a didactic approach that strengthens emotional intelligence.

Questions that can be answered through HRD:

  • How can we design training activities for immediate transfer of conceptual knowledge?
  • What interventions can be taken to build emotional intelligence within our staff?
  • How can we utilize key knowledge holder and professionals as internal trainers?

Work example:

„Branch Management Academy“

Objective:

  • Design and implementation of internal leadership academy in CEE.
  • Development of international pool of trainers within the academy.

Design and implementation of internal Academy targeting three levels of management in Central and Eastern Europe. Establishment of internal trainer pool within the Academy. In collaboration with a sponsor and an international steering committee, my part was to develop a modular leadership program. The focus on the branch manager level was to build self-awareness as a leader and to learn basic tools in leadership. Additionally, subjects such as business economy and financial planning were taught. The next management level received training in organizational systems theory and tools to facilitate change and utilize market potential. Top level management underwent learning journeys to learn how to take customer experience and digitalization to the next level. After successful implementation, my role was to train a local team of trainers who are certified to implement the leadership program in their regions. Under my supervision, the Academy has been active since 2016 in 10 countries with 34 certified trainers.
